Yahoo! Geo cities won’t be available after 26th October and it has informed its refugees to set up a new online homes. Yahoo! purchased this web hosting services for $3 billion at the height of dot- com boom. Initially it offered web hosting for just $5 for the first 12 months. Yahoo! Now a days we people talk much about global warming in order to save our environment and to save our world. As a part of this awareness program there comes a new trend and it is called as “Green IT” it comprises of initiatives and strategies that reduce the environmental hazards of technology also provides the same quality of service. It concentrates more on the three major terms such as economic, ecological and social. As the techies consume more electronic gadgets in their work environment so the ecological balance is disturbed by them as they consume energies like electricity, fuel, paper and also includes hardware and also they are the major consumers of Air conditioner. The Green IT initiatives also produce cost savings in energy use, purchases, management and support, in addition to environmental benefits. Beyond cost savings and environmental benefits, some initiatives may address stakeholder and regulatory needs and demands. So lets this new revolution may be the stepping stone of a big revolution.

A Set Back for Great Britain

This is the very interesting news which I came across in recent times. Great Britain one among the super powers in the world is lagging behind in broad band internet technology in Europe. UK lags behind countries such as Sweden, Norway, and Slovenia in to high-speed fibre-to-the-home broadband internet services. The country which tops the chart in the high-speed fibre-to-the-home broadband internet services has more than 10% of the connections which is the fastest type of broad band connections with average speed of 100Mbps. Over 2 million people in Europe have this connection but where as in UK not even have one per cent of people use such technology. The countries which are more than one percent are included in the ranking. The ranking was announced by the Fibre-To-The-Home Council at the Broadband World Forum in Paris. The council president revealed that by 2012 13million people will use this technology across Europe. As the rural business in UK is being suffocated by slow broad band services. The most pathetic study is more than 42% of people in UK are unable to access the internet at the speed of 2Mbps the speed which is pledged by the government. The rural business trading is terrible affected due to the low level speed of internet. This is a unbelievable truth which I came across recently.
